Abtaster is a 7 meter long painted latex banner, threaded through the front entrance of the art academy's pavilion and tied across the front door. The motif, a rasterized portrait, originally taken with the flat-screen scanner, is activated firstly by the lightbox-like entrance room, and secondly by the act of opening the front door. This motion stretches the surface and allows the painting to be recognized. Operating the door, however, makes it impossible for the person to get a full frontal view of the painting.
